Frank Friend wants you to hear his songs. He's a self-taught musician with an unconventional approach to songwriting. Influences include The Beatles, Brian Wilson and Pink Floyd. Friend creates soft floating melodies and quiet indie rock ambiance, which is supported through acoustic guitar, piano, and electronic effects, but he is also unafraid of taking things into a more straight-forward and poppy direction.
The Winter Park, Florida resident is a DIY multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer, and vocalist (in any order) whose music is honest, intelligent and heartfelt all at once. The "Fleeting Feelings" ep and full length "Like Sharks On Blood" have been released to positive reviews and his songs have been featured in many blogs and sites including Heart Is a Spade, Keepreal, 5acts, Stereokiller, Rockfreaks, and others.
Past efforts include the successful indie-rock trio The Silent Treatment, and recently Daylight District. Two bands that with Friend as chief songwriter, played venues like Hard Rock Live, Orlando's The Social, & St. Pete's The State Theatre. They went on to achieve awards from Creative Loafing, Weekly Planet, and Orlando Weekly magazines and got airplay on WMNF and WPRK.
His latest release "Like Sharks On Blood" is now available. A self-produced eleven song album recorded at his home studio in Florida and mastered at Elysian Masters, Los Angeles by Dave Cooley (M-83, J Dilla, Local Natives.) Presently, Friend is playing select dates in a stripped down three-piece setting with Aaron Tobin on Drums and Paul Solorzano on Bass/Backing Vocals.
